Hangang Family Festival : Press Release
□ In consideration of the characteristics of Gwangnaru and Jamwon Hangang Parks, which are especially popular among families, the programs have been designed mainly around activities that families can enjoy together while spending time at the Hangang River, a place citizens visit in their daily lives.
□ The festival site will feature a waterside reading zone where families can read comfortably, a play zone where children can enjoy various activities, an experience zone combining books and crafts, and photo zones where families can capture special moments.
□ The waterside reading zone will offer around 7,500 books arranged by category, along with various seating options such as beanbags, picnic mats, and shade tents, allowing anyone to drop by empty-handed and enjoy reading. Book curation will also be provided to reflect the tastes of different family members, including “picture books to read with children,” “healing essays,” “travel,” and “hobbies and lifestyle.”
□ The play zone will offer a variety of activity-based programs for children. In addition to play facilities such as large air bouncers, ball pits, roller coasters, and tube-rolling activities, there will be programs including ping-pong ball bingo, cooperative wooden tower games, hoop rolling, and children’s basketball hoops.
□ The experience zone will feature hands-on programs that combine books and crafting. Children can take part in book-related activities such as making bookmarks, pop-up books, and leaf-art book lanterns.
A Day at the Hangang River with Family: Weekly Special Programs
□ On the opening day, Saturday, October 3, under the theme “Autumn, Melodies Reading the Hangang,” there will be a book talk by author 000, a jazz collaboration, a bubble show, and classical performances. A variety of stage programs will be presented for families to enjoy, including classical and jazz performances that harmonize with the autumn scenery of the Hangang River.
□ On Sunday, October 4, a bubble show and magic show will take place. The program is designed to spark children’s imaginations, featuring magic tricks where flowers and props appear from a giant book, an audience-participation balloon show, and large bubble performances.
□ On Friday, October 9, at Jamwon Hangang Park, various performances will be held, including orchestra, choir, Bongsan mask dance, fusion traditional Korean music, and dance performances by local youth and residents. The program is designed as a time for people of different generations in the community to come together on stage and share performances with citizens.
□ On Saturday, October 10, “Hangang Kids Movie Night” will be held. Families can enjoy films such as How to Train Your Dragon and F1 The Movie on a large LED screen, creating a special moviegoing experience on an autumn night by the Hangang River. Popcorn will be provided to moviegoers, and picnic mats will be available for rental so families can watch the films comfortably.
□ On Sunday, October 11, “Challenge! Reading Golden Bell” will be held. A total of 100 students in grades 3 to 6 will participate in this interactive program, answering various quiz questions based on pre-selected books and reflecting on their contents.
□ On Saturday, October 17, the family participation contest “Hangang Jenga Tournament” will take place. A total of 64 teams of two will compete using Jenga, while a “Mission Jenga” experience event will also be available for general visitors. Through various missions such as quizzes on lines from fairy tales and charades, citizens will be able to enjoy Jenga in a new and entertaining way.
Ongoing Programs to Share Family Tastes and Stories
□ The festival site will also feature the “Taste Bookmark” program, where families can enjoy their preferences through music and play. A listening room where visitors can enjoy music and a game room where families and citizens can play games together will be operated, offering a unique experience that combines books, music, and play.○ In the listening room, visitors can listen to music through headphones and leave song requests. In the game room, families can enjoy all-ages games, including PlayStation games.
□ In addition, photo zones with various themes, including Haechi, will be set up so visitors can capture special moments.
